The medieval architecture, the location on the Mur River, the position in the woody alpine landscape of the Tauern and Nockberge massif, all of these make the Styrian county center Murau a popular tourist destination. After the “Holzzeit” exhibition (“The Time of Wood”) held in 1995, this region successfully positioned itself as a timber industry region. In regions such as this, the topic of landscape-friendly architecture is frequently discussed, very often from positions that focus on the dualism of (intact) nature and (artificial) building.
